Namsskogan is located in the Namdal region, in Trøndelag county, approximately right in the middle of Norway. Namsskogan municipality with its 1417 sqm is filled with mountains, lakes, rivers and valleys and a fantastic treasure chamber when it comes to fishing, nature and outdoor opportunities.

The southwestern part of Børgefjell National Park is located in Namsskogan, and the entrance gate at Smalvatnet is widely used to enter the national park from the south. It is well marked and easy to enter the national park border from Smalvatnet and at the national park border you have a fantastic view of the mountains.

From the national park border, the path goes down to the Namskroken where there are nice resting possibilities and two cabins for accommodation. With Skogstua (open cabin) and Namskrokhytta as a starting point you have great wilderness opportunities.

The municipality has four towns: Namsskogan, Brekkvasselv, Trones and Skorovas. To the far north is Namsskogan, which is the municipal center. In the center of Namsskogan you can find municipal administration, nursing homes, schools, shopping centers with groceries, flowers, interiors and cafes, as well as building supplies, inns and camping grounds.

At Trones, which is located in the south of the municipality, you will find Namsskogan Family Park. With 50,000 visitors, the Family Park is one of Trøndelag's largest tourist attractions. In the Family Park there are over 150 animals, with over 35 different species. Among these are the four large predators, bears, wolves, lynx and wolverines. The mountain fox also has a special significance in the Family Park. In addition, the family park can offer activities such as a rock climbing park, tøffingtårnet” (Zip line), downhill skiing, bumper boats, canoes, trampolines and much, much more. In other words, everything is in place to create a memorable experiences for the whole family! There is also a hotel, campsite and grocery store in the immediate vicinity of the family park.
