Namsskogan is located in the Namdal region, in Trøndelag county, roughly in the middle of Norway. Namsskogan municipality , with its 1417 sq km, is filled with mountains, water, rivers and valleys and is a fantastic treasure trove when it comes to fishing, nature and outdoor activities.

The southwestern part of Børgefjell National Park is located in Namsskogan, and the entrance gate at Smalvatnet is widely used to enter the national park from the south. It is well marked and easy to walk to the national park border from Smalvatnet and at the national park border you have a fantastic view into the mountains. From the national park border the path continues down to Namskroken where there are nice rest areas and two cabins for overnight stays. With Skogstua (open cabin) and Namskrokhytta as a starting point you have unimaginable wilderness opportunities.

The municipality has four towns: Namsskogan, Brekkvasselv, Trones and Skorovas. The northernmost is Namsskogan, which is the municipal center. In the center of Namsskogan you will find, among other things, the municipal administration, a nursing home, a school, a shopping center with groceries, flowers, interior design and a cafe , there is also a building materials store, an inn and a campsite .

In Trones, which is located in the south of the municipality, you will find Namsskogan Family Park . With 50,000 visitors, the Family Park is one of Trøndelag's largest tourist attractions. The Family Park has over 150 animals, divided into 35 different species. Among these are the four large predators, bear, wolf, lynx and wolverine. The Arctic fox also has a special significance in the Family Park. In addition, the Family Park offers activities such as a climbing park, a zip-line, alpine racing, crash boats, canoes, trampolines and much, much more. In other words, everything is in place for memorable experiences for the whole family! There is also a hotel, campsite and grocery store in the immediate vicinity of the Family Park.

South of Namsskogan lies the old mining town of Skorovas, located in the mountains 450 meters above sea level. Skorovas is today a small leisure town where there is a strong focus on year-round tourism with fantastic opportunities for hiking in the mountains in the summer and skiing and winter activities with guaranteed snow in the winter. Skorovas also has a grocery store and pub .
